Supporting Children Through Full Recovery After Eye Surgery

The Hikarikanata Foundation, based in Japan is a nonprofit organization that supports eye surgeries and follow-up care for children in developing countries, ensuring that they receive treatment to overcome eye conditions that would otherwise limit their health, confidence, and opportunities.

Following the successful first mission of Israeli surgeons from Eye From Zion, who corrected eye conditions and improved the vision of 25 Lao children earlier this year, the Hikarikanata Foundation has generously committed to funding the follow-up care required for every child who underwent eye surgery. This ensures that each patient receives the ongoing attention needed for a safe and complete recovery.

The organization has also committed to supporting the next group of children who will undergo corrective eye surgery when the surgeons from Eye From Zion return in February 2026.

Four months after the surgeries, the Hikarikanata Foundation team visited our hospital in November to check on the children’s progress. Many of the young patients are already showing remarkable improvements. Changes that are truly life-changing for both them and their families.

We are deeply grateful to the Hikarikanata Foundation for this essential support from surgery through full recovery. Thanks to this funding, every child who has undergone, and will undergo, corrective eye surgery can look forward to complete care.

Thank you for helping us protect the sight and future potential of children across Northern Laos.
