Run for Children 2026 Makes History in Luang Prabang with 3,000 Runners from Over 50 Countries

The streets of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang were awash with shades of white, blue and green on the morning of 24 October 2026 as 3,000 runners from more than 50 countries took part in the event, proudly wearing race shirts adorned with the ‘Taleo’, a traditional Lao symbol of protection.

It was a record-breaking day for the Run for Children Luang Prabang Half Marathon, marking its biggest and most successful edition yet in its twelve-year history.

From professional runners to families and young children, the event brought together people of all ages and abilities, with the 7 km fun run proving the most popular, attracting 2,100 runners, followed by 600 in the 14 km race and 300 in the 21 km half marathon.

“Words cannot express our gratitude to our sponsors and their continued involvement with our annual Run for Children. “This year, we welcomed our biggest group of runners yet, and the energy throughout the town was electric. But at its heart, this race really is for the children, and the proceeds truly do save precious young lives. Thank you for making this wonderful event possible.”

— Nicole Pagourgis, Executive Director, Friends Without A Border

Run for Children is an annual celebration of generosity, community solidarity, and the belief that every child deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their family's ability to pay.

Thank You, Luang Prabang!

Our heartfelt thanks go to all our sponsors and partners, the organizing team, volunteers, donors, the Luang Prabang local government, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this year's event possible.

Above all, thank you to the Luang Prabang community who participated. This is what makes this event truly special, year after year. As we celebrate this record-breaking event, one thing remains more important: We run for children. We run to save young lives, give families hope, and help build a healthier, brighter future for children in Laos.

We look forward to bringing everyone together again in 2027!
