Princess Aiko of Japan Visits Lao Friends Hospital for Children

We are deeply honored to have welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Aiko of Japan to our hospital on October 20, 2025.

This visit holds profound meaning for us, given our Japanese roots as Lao Friends Hospital for Children was founded by Japanese photographer and philanthropist Mr. Kenro Izu in 2015. It is the first and only privately funded children's teaching hospital in northern Laos, providing free pediatric care.

Princess Aiko was received by Mr Kenro Izu himself and Dr. Soukhaserm Thongphout, Vice President of Luang Prabang Public Health Department, and guided through the hospital’s facilities by Director of Outreach Ms. Kazumi Akao.

For over two decades, Japanese donors, volunteers, medical professionals, and partners have played a significant part in building and sustaining our mission. This visit brings renewed visibility to our mission among Japanese partners and supporters worldwide.

We are grateful to the Japanese Embassy and Princess Aiko's delegation for including our hospital in her visit to Lao PDR.
