Outpatient Department (OPD)
Our Outpatient Department (OPD) provides walk-in medical care for children from across northern Laos. Experienced triage nurses assess each patient before they are seen by our pediatric doctors for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. The department cares for an average of 80–120 children each day, ensuring timely, high-quality healthcare at no cost to families.
Opening Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Services: Triage, consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for children.
Specialized Clinics

The only one of its kind in Laos, providing free specialized care for children with developmental conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and developmental delays. A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and nutrition specialists delivers screening, assessment, and individualized therapies tailored to each child’s needs. The clinic focuses on improving function, independence, and quality of life while supporting families throughout their child’s development.

The only dedicated pediatric thalassemia clinic in northern Laos, providing specialized care for children living with this common inherited blood disorder. Patient numbers continue to grow each year, with more than 600 children enrolled in the program in 2026. Children remain under the clinic’s care until they transition out of pediatric services at 15 years of age. The clinic provides regular check-ups, blood transfusions, iron chelation therapy, and family support to up to 40–50 patients weekly.

Opened in August 2023, the Nephrology Clinic is the only dedicated pediatric kidney clinic in northern Laos. Established in response to the growing number of children requiring specialized kidney care, the clinic provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of nephrotic syndrome, as well as monitoring and care for other kidney-related conditions.

Opened in November 2023, the Orthopaedic Clinic provides specialized care for children with fractures, musculoskeletal injuries, and other orthopaedic conditions. Working closely with the physiotherapy and radiology teams, the clinic offers coordinated assessment, treatment, and follow-up care in a single visit. By consolidating fracture reviews into one dedicated clinic day each week, patients benefit from reduced waiting times and timely access to X-rays, physiotherapy, and specialist care.

Lao Friends Hospital for Children opened its new Epilepsy clinic in December 2023. An estimated 50,000 children and adults in Laos have Epilepsy, but only 20,000 have access to regular treatment.
The clinic is held weekly and will follow patients progression, adjust and prescribe medication, and provide family education.

Inpatient Department (IPD)
The Inpatient Department provides round-the-clock care for children requiring admission for medical and surgical conditions. With a capacity of 42 beds and consists of a main open-plan ward, and two isolation rooms.
A new five-bed Isolation?? Unit was established in 2025 following a measles outbreak to strengthen infection prevention and patient safety. Common admissions include severe infections, respiratory illnesses, malnutrition, fractures, dengue fever, typhoid, and other conditions requiring inpatient care.
