The 7th Annual Fundarising Gala was held on Monday, April 20th at the New York
Athletic Club and was, once again, a great success. This year was unique as
we had the opportunity to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Angkor Hospital
for Children and did so with a celebratory Commemorative Journal full of well
wishes and congratulations to those individuals who made the past ten years
possible.
Kenro Izu, the Founder of Friends Without A Border, was honored with a wonderful
wind chime made with the thumbprints of many children seen at AHC. This year's
Best Friends of Friends Award went to Dr. and Mrs. John and Nina Cassils. Not
only have they been generous supporters of the organization themselves but they
have also been wonderful ambassadors for AHC.
Mr. Drew De Carvalho was the Emcee for the evening and did a great job entertaining guests and auctioning live auction items. We were fortunate to have three guests from AHC attend the event: Dr. Bill Housworth, Executive Director of AHC; Dr. Vann Thy and Ms. Vanna Dary, who all gave touching speeches. They all enjoyed meeting donors and witnessing firsthand the kindness of those who support their country. We were happy to raise almost $300,000 at this year's Gala in the current economic climate. This could not have been possible without a true commitment and support of all the guests who joined us for the evening.
A big thank you to all individuals who helped make this wonderful event possible.
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
The 5th Annual Cambodian-American Friends of Friends Fundraising Banquet to benefit Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) was held in Philadelphia on May 10, 2008 at the Cannstatter in North Philadelphia. Many people gathered to support the hospital and share in an evening of fun.
In attendance was Congressman Chaka Fattah, who presented Friends of Friends Philadelphia with a certificate and donated $2,500 towards the hospital. Additionally, Kenro Izu was present and shared his story behind the history of Friends Without A Border and Angkor Hospital for Children. Guests enjoyed good food, music, and dance, along with traditional Khmer dance performances put on by young and talented dancers. A raffle and silent auction were held throughout the night, which included Kenro Izu prints, jewelry, Cambodian paintings, scarves, gift baskets, and many other items. Additionally, a live auction was held, requesting that people contribute to either antibiotic treatment for children with meningitis, combating malnutrition and/or general treatment at the hospital.

Friends Without A Border held its 11th Annual Friends of Friends Photography Auction on December 11th, 2007 at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The night was an enormous success as Friends raised approximately $150,000 in support of Angkor Hospital for Children. Throughout the night close to 500 guests attended. Not only did the generous guests of the evening support us by bidding on the amazing photographs that were donated, but they also opened their wallets to support programs such as the Adopt-A-Doctor/Nurse program and meningitis treatment. We thank everyone who attended in support of the work that we do.
We want to thank everyone who donated artwork, as well as the committee members
who provide tremendous support to the auction. Every year the support of the
art community grows and we appreciate it very much. We thank Howard Greenberg
for his tireless support of this event. We would also like to thank all of the
volunteers who helped coordinate this event. Without you we could never achieve
the goals of AHC. Thank you Irene Wong and Saffron 59 for the delicious food

The New York chapter of Friends of Friends held a wonderful event on October 20, 2007 at St. John's Cathedral in Tenafly, NJ. The event was complete with traditional Cambodian music, dancing and food. The night began with appetizers and a silent auction filled with items ranging from Kenro Izu photographs to beautiful Cambodian artwork. Before the seven-course meal was served Kenro spoke about the progress of AHC, and a Friends board member, Dr. David Pugatch, gave a presentation complete with updated photographs of the hospital. Their speeches inspired donors to be especially gracious during the live auction that helped raised thousands of dollars for AHC. The night was enhanced by the playing of Cambodian music by not only the dynamic band Monorom, but by special guest Ratana Veth, who sang beautifully throughout the night. We want to thank Rebecca Perrin for helping organize the dance performance that night by the children, and we want to thank the children for all of their hard work.
