"Khmer
Empire" This collective series of paintings
aspires to transport people back to the golden age of a truly great
empire.
"Mothers
Love" Originally part of a collection of 20 sculptures,
these exquisite carvings are inspired by Vutha’s personal history.
Raised
in the infamous Site Two refugee camp along the Thai border in the 1980’s,
where art and free expression were used to help young refugees overcome
the trauma of war, Tor Vutha emerged as a dedicated and talented artist
who went on to co-found Phare Ponlue Selpak, a private art school in
Battambang in 1994.
Tor Vutha maintains
his position as Professor of Art at the school to this day.
Tor Vutha has travelled and exhibited throughout Thailand, USA,
France, Switzerland as well as many cities of Cambodia. His work
is widely collected by museums and private collectors around the
globe. He is currently preparing to undertake a one year art scholarship
in France.

Friends Center would also like to announce its new "Community
Corner," where local NGOs are introduced along with the main exhibition
every few months. Currently featured is the Kids
Postcard Project, a non-profit organization that encourages creative
expression to underprivileged children through art projects and workshops.
