Kumiko Imazu Greetings from Friend's Fukuoka Office. We thank you for your generous support. During this time of economic crisis in Japan, with increasing bankruptcy and unemployment, we feel very grateful to receive contributions to the Angkor Friends Fund. After Dr. Masumi Kamachi, the CEO of Wajiro Hospital, became a Board Member and Medical Advisor of Friends Without A Border, he set up Friends Fukuoka Office within the hospital to manage fund raising in Japan for the Angkor Hospital For Children project. When programs on the project are aired on TV, all the staff from the administration office of the hospital, sometimes including Mrs. Kamachi and her friends, help answer the numerous phone calls we have received. When the project was featured on "News 23 by Tetsuya Chikushi" on TBS December 11th of last year, we responded with all our efforts to all the donors to the Angkor Friends Fund. Also, we were very happy to receive an unexpected fax of encouragement from Mr. Tetsuya Chikushi himself. There are many stories behind each contribution: Letters from young mothers who felt sad to see children suffering from land mine wounds and infectious diseases like malaria and dengue fever; Elderly people making contributions while they are healthy and able to earn an income from their part-time jobs; People sending a portion of their precious pensions; A man who told us he was giving since people helped him when he lost his home and family in Hanshin Earthquake; A person wishing to be anonymous since her relatives are dependant on her; People spreading the word at their school, work place and clubs; A man making a donation on his birthday; A mother sending donations on behalf of her lost son; Whole families applying to be members and so forth. Every time I come in contact with this generosity from so many individuals, it touches my heart very deeply. We will gratefully use your contributions toward the construction and maintenance of the Angkor Hospital For Children. We hope to have your continuous support. |
