A Cambodian Dinner Honoring the Memory of Gunther Hausen

The Middletown Rotary Club invites you to help provide disease-free water by attending the benefit on Sunday June 1st, 2008 from 4pm to 7pm at the Officer's Club at the Naval Base in Newport, RI. Tickets will provide potable water for 20 villages or 50 children at school. Your attendance will make a difference.

Gunther Hausen was a major supporter of AHC through his work with Middletown Rotary Club. He helped organize The Pure Water and Literacy Program, sponsored by various Rotary Clubs worldwide, to bring pure water to Cambodian people through the manufacture and installation of biosand water filters. He believed strongly that all people had the right to a healthy life and his work certainly reflected that.

The Health, Pure Water, and Literacy for Cambodia project consists of manufacturing and installing Bio-Sand water filters in Cambodian villages to reduce the incidence of water-bourne diseases which are often fatal, especially for children. In addition, literacy courses are being offered to teach young women basics in reading, writing, numeracy, and hygiene.

To buy tickets for this event, contact Patrick Burke at burke.patrick.l@gmail.com or call 401-864-4028. Tickets are $50 and will be held at the door, reservations should be made in advance. Please RSVP by May 25, 2008.

Please support the Health, Pure Water, and Literacy Project and spend a wonderful afternoon overlooking Narragansett Bay and enjoying a delicious meal.
