10th Annual Friends of Friends Photography Auction
On Tuesday, December 12th, Friends hosted the 10th Annual Friends
of Friends Photography Auction. The elegant new floor at the Metropolitan
Pavilion was decorated by Chazz Levi, creating an especially festive atmosphere.
The auction included a gorgeous collection of 150 photographs donated
by some of the world’s most renowned photographers. The evening
began with cocktails and delicious appetizers and was enjoyed by over
300 guests as they viewed the artwork. The live auction, led by the auctioneer
from Phillips de Pury, Rick Wester, was lively as always, as was the ongoing
bidding of the silent auction. Highlights of the night included the sales
of Irving Penn’s Moroccan Fantasia, Morocco, 1951 for $13,000, and
Herb Ritts, “His Holiness The Dalai Lama 1987”, for $10,000.
Thank you to all of the generous photographers, sponsors, guests and volunteers
for making the 10th Annual Photography Auction a tremendous success. A
very special anniversary event, we are all very pleased that the 10th
Annual Auction was so special. Over $180,000 was raised to support Angkor
Hospital for Children, representing a significant portion of the hospital’s
operating budget!
