Cooperation
and Collaboration
Although Angkor Hospital for Children is independently funded and managed, it serves an integral part of the existing Cambodian Health System. Because our goal is to not only heal children, but to heal a society and a nation, the necessity of working in collaboration with the Cambodian Ministry of Health is obvious. In order for self sufficiency to be realized, the entire Cambodian health system must be improved, not merely supplemented by international relief efforts. AHC cooperates with provincial and national hospitals, maintaining a patient referral system between facilities. AHC functions as the pediatric unit of the Provincial hospital and through its medical education programs and Capacity Building and Health Education Program (CBHEP) serves to improve medical infrastructure locally and nationally. Friends Without A Border and AHC are also firmly committed to maximizing benefits to Cambodia through collaboration with other NGOs. In some cases these organizations have helped to expand our efforts, as CARE and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) have become important supporters of our HomeCare and HIV Programs. In other instances, the incredible educational programs of AHC have served to improve the work of NGOs throughout the region. Friends and AHC are grateful to all of the wonderful organizations and individuals who have dedicated themselves to the plight of children’s health and to Cambodia. Please note our special appreciation for the following:
